Food Program

Sugar and spice takes pride in preparing home cooked and well balanced meals for each and every child. We participate in the 4C’s Food program which is a California organization that works with child care centers to plan out well-balanced meals. Your child will be provided with unlimited portions of breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks. We ask parents to be responsible for bringing in food items if your child is on a special diet. Children are offered food from each food group and encouraged to try new things, however, if they do not want to eat something, they are not required to do so.’

What to Bring

We ask parents to please provide the following:

  • One extra change of clothes
  • Appropriate seasonal outerwear
  • Pillow and blanket

If your child is toilet training please provide these additional items:

  • Several pairs of heavy layered training pants
  • Several changes of clothing, including socks
  • One rubber sheet and pull up diaper for naps
  • One bag for soiled clothes

Each child will be provided with an individual unit to store personal belongings. Please be sure to label all items clearly. Dirty clothes will be sent home with each child weekly.

Arrival and Pick-up

Departure and arrival times can be a stressful time for both you and your child. A very normal reaction is for your child to cry, especially during the first few weeks of adjusting to a new place. Your child may or may not cry when you leave. If your child does cry, please do not be alarmed. This is a normal occurrence often termed as separation anxiety. This anxiety should lessen as your child becomes accustomed to his/her new surroundings and realizes you will return. Hours of operation are from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Please review the parent contract for a complete schedule.

Please be sure to abide by the following when arriving and picking up your child:

  • Do not double park and leave car unattended while walking into school
  • Do not block or park in neighborhood driveways
  • Please let us know if you are going to be detained so we can reassure your child. Late fees will be applied (see contract).
  • No child will be released to a person not authorized by a parent for pick-up. We must have written or verbal authorization. I.D. may be requested at our discretion.
